Our speakers will be Marcus Christie at IU talking about the use of CILogon service that can provide authentication for science gateways and other CI projects. Marcus will also discuss the recent integration of CILogon into Apache Airavata, a software framework for building science gateways.
Mitch Horton (NICS) will discuss work he’s recently taken over from Junqi Yin (NICS), working with Prof. Yong Zeng at the University of Missouri at Kansas City on the use of Markov processes with Marked Point Process (MPP) observations for streaming financial ultra-high frequency data. This is applied in the study of volatility, which is influential in investment, monetary policy making, risk management and security valuation. Through the use of CUDA codes, tis method combines particle filtering with Markov Chain Monte Carlo to achieve sequential parameter learning in a Bayesian way. Interestingly, these types of analyses are becoming more frequent on XSEDE resources.
