Senior Application Analyst

Coastal Carolina University [in Conway, SC; near Myrtle Beach] is accepting applications for a Senior Application Analyst in the Office of Information Technology Services.

Responsibilities include acting as the system administrator for designated Linux, UNIX and Windows systems that support the academic community/assigned departments; serving as first responder to user inquiries; developing and maintaining documentation of all customization and upgrades; implementing and maintaining compliance with current security and service protocols and standards; managing updates and maintenance on designated academic lab machines, file servers, and virtual environments including the creations and maintenance of Unix and Windows accounts for the departments; consulting with users regarding applications programming requests, applications training, user support and troubleshooting; analyzing user applications programming requests related to overall program goals and system functionality and recommends solutions; assisting with the administration, maintenance, and support High Performance Cluster (HPC) for Sciences as well as the Cyber Infrastructure to handle large data transferring, processing, and computation; facilitating system development to support the curriculum objectives in preparing students for the real world; researching, evaluating, recommending and using emerging and/or relevant methodologies, languages and technologies; documenting all customizations and upgrade and facilitating the successful implementation of software upgrades; writing and maintaining software code, queries and reports and programs applications using current tools and languages; and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field required. Experience in technology management, Web Application Development, or System Administration required. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. Four (4) year of progressive experience in technology management, Web Application Development, or System Administration preferred. Experience with CentOS/Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows servers and workstations, Ansible, FreeIPA/Red Hat IdM, oVirt/RHEV, Slurm, Apache httpd, NGINX, Apache Tomcat preferred. Programming experience in Bash and Python is preferred. Experience with support of research projects as indicated by publications preferred. Experience with electronic publishing preferred. Additionally, a successful candidate should possess advanced knowledge of Systems Administration (Linux & Windows); familiarity with virtual environments (VMware preferred); professional Web Application Development experience (portfolio); excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to function in a team-oriented environment. Knowledge of Linux & Microsoft operating systems; knowledge of software programming, testing and debugging; knowledge of web server and database administration; strong analytical skills; the ability to learn, test, deploy, and troubleshoot a variety of software applications, including emerging technologies.
