XSEDE bringing students to new course

XSEDE education program leader Steve Gordon asks for your help in spreading the word about a new course on designing and building appplications for extreme scale sustems in a course for Spring 2016. Participating institutions will need to provide a local instrcutor that will be responsible for advising the local students and officially assigning grades. Read more

CIREN to the rescue

Over 33,000 Americans die in motor vehicle crashes annually, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. Improved computer models of vehicle crashes could predict how restraints and other safety systems could work better. Ashley A. Weaver of Wake Forest University used XSEDE resource Blacklight at the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center to run thousands of simulations drawn from hundreds of cases in virtual autos simulating the Toyota Camry and Chevrolet Cobalt.
