COVID-19 Simulations on Bridges

Posted by Tom Maiden on 03/14/2020 13:49 UTC

To Our Bridges Community,

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, recently declared a national emergency, the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center and our partners within XSEDE, following NSF’s guidance, are prioritizing the emerging needs of specific epidemiology groups. Beginning on Monday, March 16, 2020, a significant portion of the Bridges system will be periodically dedicated to these efforts. This is expected to affect primarily the RM partition, and possibly the LM partition as well. This urgent response will continue for an undetermined amount of time. We appreciate your patience and understanding during these trying times and hope to return the system to normal operation as soon as possible.

For the duration of this special operation mode, we ask Bridges RM users to:
Limit the requested run-time per job to no more than 12 hours.Be prepared to resubmit jobs which may be canceled prematurely.Avoid requesting reservations or special priority for jobs.
No changes involving GPU or GPU-AI partitions are anticipated at this time.

The PSC team will continue to address concerns and requests as they arise. Please feel free to contact us via email to bridges@psc.edu should you have any questions or comments. We will keep you informed as the situation evolves.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding,

Tom Maiden
