XSEDE in the News
XSEDE Publications Page Now Online
The XSEDE website now includes a page (in the About section) for publicly available and widely shared XSEDE documents, which can be found at the following link: https://www.xsede.org/ publications. Although five documents are linked from the page, it is expected that the number will grow. As such, the XSEDE community may see category names added in the future. Please note: If you refer to or print any of these documents on a regular basis, please check this page before doing so, as it will always contain the most current version (along with the creation or latest revision date). Please contact Susan McKenna (mckennas@ncsa.illinois.edu) if you have questions or have a document to include on the page. Thank you.

Parallel Programming: Using Blacklight
December 5-6, 2011 - PSC
PSC is pleased to announce a workshop featuring programming techniques that will help you to take advantage of large shared memory machines. Workshop participants will use PSC's Blacklight, the largest shared memory machine in the world. No experience with parallel programming is required, as MPI and OpenMP will be discussed from the ground up, but a working knowledge of C or Fortran is suggested. There will be ample time for hands-on experience with this new material. Participants are encouraged to bring their own codes. NSF Science, Technology, and Society (STS) Call for Proposals
Full Proposal Deadline(s) (due by 5 p.m. proposer's local time): February 01, 2012 February 1, Annually Thereafter August 01, 2012 August 1, Annually Thereafter
STS considers proposals for scientific research into the interface between science (including engineering) or technology, and society. STS researchers use diverse methods including social science, historical, and philosophical methods. Successful proposals will be transferrable (i.e., generate results that provide insights for other scientific contexts that are suitably similar). They will produce outcomes that address pertinent problems and issues at the interface of science, technology and society, such as those having to do with practices and assumptions, ethics, values, governance, and policy.
