XSEDE is a partnership organization, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), led by the University of Illinois' National Center for Supercomputing Applications and currently comprises 24 universities and computational centers.
XSEDE is dedicated to supporting scientists, engineers, social scientists and humanists around the world in the use and advancement of state of the art digital resources and services. We provide expertise to ensure that researchers and others can make the most of supercomputers and tools. XSEDE's role is to integrate these resources and services and make them easier to leverage for individuals and entities. We employ a standards-based architecturethat allows open development and future digital services and enhancements.

The yearly XSEDE conference showcases discoveries, innovations, and achievements of individuals and organizations who use, build, and support XSEDE resources and services, and relevant digital resources endeavors globally.
The XSEDE13 event attracted over 700 attendees, including about 200 graduate and undergraduate STEM students from research universities across the nation. This year, the XSEDE14 Conference will continue to provide a forum for discussion of challenges, opportunities, and solutions among global representatives of computational scientists, researchers, engineers, students, educators, industry and government agencies.
Additionally, the 2014 Conference program offers challenging tutorials, plenary talks, panels and in-depth technical content experts in the field – along with introductions to computational science tools, technologies and methods of
XSEDE supports 16 supercomputers and high-end visualization and data analysis resources and offers
- Training in high performance computing and simulation, data management, and cybersecurity frontiers
- Expert user support to the nation's leading supercomputing facilities for people new to their use.
