ParaView and other tools from RDAV
ParaView expert and contributor Burlen Loring will headline a day of instruction from the Remote Data Analysis and Visualization (RDAV) project . Other instructors from the project will follow with useful topics and tools in data analysis and visualization.
ParaView is an open source multiple-platform application for interactive, scientific visualization. ParaView users can quickly build visualizations to analyze their data using qualitative and quantitative techniques. The data exploration can be done interactively in 3D or programmatically using ParaView’s batch processing capabilities.
The statistical software R is growing in popularity for analyzing data from a wide range of domains. The RDAV team has taken a lead role in developing the Programming with Big Data in R project (pbdR). These tools make it easy for researchers using R to harness the power of high performance computing for their data analysis needs. These packages deliver high-level access to parallel computing without asking the user to manage the details of data distribution or inter-process communication.
