VAPOR is a 3D visualization toolkit that incorporates a data model tailored for large simulation outputs. It is also open source, and cross-platform. In this 1.5 hour tutorial, users will be shown how to use VAPOR’s rendering tools to exemplify key features in a first-of-its-kind F5 tornado simulation. Users are encouraged to watch how VAPOR is used during the tutorial, and then acquire the tornado data which will be available through XSEDE resources. They will then be able to reimplement the demonstrated visualizations on whatever system they choose. VAPOR can be run on desktop or supercomputing resources, provided they contain a modern GPU.
