Managing software installs
easybuild software packages

Hi All,
Some background:
Like many centers, we have a large number of user level software packages to maintain on our systems, ranging from numerical libraries to quantum chemistry applications. We use modules (lmod version from TACC) to help users maintain an appropriate environment for a given set of software that they are using.

My question:
We are interested in tools that can help to automate the build process for most/many of the packages when we do things such as deploy a new cluster or update default compiler and mpi modules. I've stumbled across a tool called EasyBuild from Ghent University, https://github.com/hpcugent/easybuild, and wondered if any of you have given it a try and if so, what went well or not so well with it. Pointers and/or experience with similar tools also welcome.
